There is actually some evidence that omega 3 helps assist in weight control.

This is because people who are overweight oftentimes suffer from various health conditions that make losing weight more difficult and these conditions can be benefited by essential omega 3 fatty acids.
For example, being overweight and having unstable blood sugar often go hand in hand. If you suffer from diabetes or are pre-diabetic or have high cholesterol, you may also be suffering from a weight issue.

All of these conditions can be improved through consuming more omega 3 fatty acids, which is why a diet rich in salmon, herring, sardines, mackerel, and other good sources are often recommended for such individuals.

Another good sources, some would say the best source, is purified fish oil supplements. The unfortunate reality is that even healthy sources of fish are often contaminated because of man-made pollutants that exist in the world’s oceans.

Farm raised fish are no better because they are not fed their natural diet and, therefore, do not have the same omega 3 fatty acid content as their wild counterparts.

Does Omega 3 help Weight loss

Fish oil supplements are the best choice because through a process known as molecular distillation the contaminants can be separated from the beneficial oils and discarded. The pure oils are then encapsulated and easily taken.

Not only does omega 3 help weight loss, it helps with brain and heart health…..and because it is vital for nice skin, it is also often taken for skin conditions, such as acne.

The benefits of omega 3’s became so well known that even the FDA allowed qualified health claims. Said said Dr. Lester M. Crawford, in 2004, then Acting FDA Commissioner. “This new qualified health claim for omega-3 fatty acids should help consumers as they work to improve their health by identifying foods that contain these important compounds.”
