A multivitamin provides all or most vitamins and minerals to supplement the amount people obtain from their diet. Multivitamins usually include other non-necessary nutrients such as antioxidants and herbs, and usually lack other necessary nutrients such as omega 3 fatty acids and essential amino acids. A multivitamin cannot take the place of a healthy diet, in fact, even the healthiest diets don’t provide optimal amounts of all necessary nutrients on a day-to-day basis. Additionally, other factors like stress, pollution, and the limited food choices suitable for a fast-paced lifestyle make a multivitamin important for everyone; even the American Medical Association recommends a daily multivitamin for all adults.
Multi Vitamin for Children
It is absolutely crucial that any and all manner of medications be kept out of the reach of children. Children get most of their vitamins from their diets but if you think they need them, generic multivitamins are fine. Calcium must be gotten from other sources which benefits your child if they have special needs such as allergies to dairy foods or a strong dislike for them.
Vitamins should not interfere with medicine.
Avoid very cheap vitamins.
Don’t give adult vitamins to children.
Be careful, when considering vitamins that claim special health benefits like stress relief or weight loss.
If you are a man who needs an extra boost, there are several options for you. In addition to many vitamin supplements that will do everything from increase your energy level to your libido, there are many different multivitamins that contain ingredients you need to stay active and fit. Read the label of the different multivitamins available for men and see what types of supplements are included. Depending on your needs, the best multivitamin for you can be one that promotes good cholesterol or one that gives your more stamina.
Multivitamins are energizing. Multiminerals are relaxing and due to the magnesium content, stimulate elimination. For this reason it may be preferable to use a multivitamin that has but small amounts of calcium and magnesium during the day, and a multimineral at night before bed. Or someone might want to provide all the vitamins and minerals in a single supplement, even if it means using 6 or more capsules per day.
Vitamins are, by definition, substances we need for our body to function normally. Does this rule exclude children? Absolutely not. We need vitamins for healthy vision, to grow, to make bones and connective tissue, to fight infections, diseases and cancer, to heal wounds, to prevent us from bleeding to death, and to keep our teeth healthy and strong. Don’t these also apply to children? Of course they do!
So we have established that we need sufficient vitamins intake to be healthy. We have also established the fact that we cannot produce enough vitamins to meet our needs. We, therefore, need to get them from outside sources, largely our diet and from commercial nutritional supplements. Multivitamins are the best source for children to receive the nutrients they need in order to grow and develop.
